Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant's scheduled trip to Washington has been postponed, according to a statement from the Pentagon. The minister was originally set to fly to the United States on Wednesday for discussions regarding regional security and defense cooperation. However, the visit did not proceed as planned due to last-minute objections raised by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. An Israeli official who requested anonymity confirmed that the decision stemmed directly from concerns expressed within the Israeli government regarding the timing or purpose of the talks. This development marks a significant shift in diplomatic scheduling between the two allies just before the intended meeting. The situation highlights ongoing complexities in coordinating high-level engagements between Washington and Jerusalem, particularly amidst evolving geopolitical tensions. Bloomberg Television reported on the delay through its Middle East Briefing segment, noting that while specific reasons for Netanyahu's hesitation were not fully detailed publicly, the cancellation underscores the sensitivity of current bilateral discussions. No further details regarding the rescheduling or alternative dates have been released at this time.
