US officials are investigating whether high-resolution satellite imagery from Chinese sources helped Iran target American forces at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. According to a Wall Street Journal report, Iran obtained Chinese imagery before a July 17 missile attack that killed three US soldiers and wounded four others. Officials reportedly describe the finding as the clearest evidence yet that Chinese support reaching Tehran may have had deadly consequences for American forces, although Washington has stopped short of accusing Beijing directly. The scrutiny comes amid concerns over Russian assistance to Iran and Tehran's improving ability to track US military assets. The revelations also emerge ahead of Donald Trump's expected meeting with Xi Jinping.
