The decision follows allegations of sexual misconduct, which Khan denied, but it also comes after many months of controversy surrounding his handling of the ICC's investigation into Israel and his decision to seek arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant. During this period reports have suggested that Khan rushed to apply for these arrest warrants, cancelling a scheduled visit to Israel and ignoring exonerating evidence, in a desperate attempt to persuade the complainant from pursuing her allegations.
